VALLEY ACHIEVEMENT CENTER 10 K

Doug and I ran in the VAC fundraiser run this past Saturday. He pushed Zoe in the stroller and beat me by at least three minutes:) I ran a satisfying 1:01 with a minor shin splint. I'm looking forward to running/walking in the Women's Marathon in Phoenix while I recover from some injuries due to weight gain and poor training. Then its time to get ready for the Tinkerbell half-marathon in Anaheim in late January.

  1. That is so awesome about the run and the time you achieved. Stinks about the injuries though.

I am far from a marathon/half marathon and can probably barely pull off a 5k for now (but I'm working on it!). I haven't really done specific race training, just trying to get the running down period until my body shrinks in size a bit (61 lbs down and a bit more to go).

I'm still going between 11-12 minutes per mile and I haven't run more than 3.5 miles straight in fear of pushing myself too far too soon. I'm also training my body to run in the early mornings and this morning was probably the best I've done so far. I took a few extra laps around the lake for a total of 6 miles (I didn't run all of it, just the first 2-3 miles) since my energy was pretty high for 5:30-6am. I'm starting to really love this morning thing, too. I ran at about 11 minutes per mile this morning.

I'm looking forward to more exercise updates and encouragement from here. Cute idea!

  2. You rock! I'm jealous about the free time you have in the morning and about the awesome scenery you have! I'm so excited to see where you go with this.
